Reiki Classes starting on 7/7!

So, here’s the scoop:

The fine, fine folks over at Silver Pyramid are granting me some space to teach Reiki.  There are a few things you should know about this class.

The first is that it’s an all-degrees class.  That means if you’re a brand, spanking-new beginner or an old hand that just wants a ‘fresher, you will be welcome and probably find something awesome in this class.

The second is that there’s a textbook – but not just any textbook!  You can get a paperback from Lulu, you can get a hardback from Lulu, you can download the electronic version, or you can buy a paperback directly from either me or the Silver Pyramid (I’ll be dropping off the first batch later today).

The interesting thing about this textbook is that there’s a whole chapter in there on self-attunement, which kind of defeats the purpose of having a class, except that everyone learns in a different way, and even the self-attuned tend to like to share their Reiki because Reiki loves to play!

The third thing is that, as much as I’d like to make it so, this is not a free class.  It’s $15 per person, per class, and you can come to as many or as few as you like.  We’ll cover different material each time, but we will discuss topics that are valid for each degree.

A Saturday post to clear the head

I was going to schedule it for later and title it a “Saturday Evening Post”, but I realized that only a small portion of people would get the joke, and that would make me feel… older than them.

Anyway…

A few big deals:  First, I got the proof copy of “Reiki Your Leaves” – and it’s wrong.  There’s all kinds of stuff that’s all kinds of jacked up, and some weird thing about no leading pages, and the count is all buggered… so, I’ll be doing another reformatting today, but it will not count as another edition.  If you have the e-book version, you’re fine.

(Technically, if you don’t mind opposite-facing pages – which is to say that it mysteeeeriously starts on “0″ and then page 1 is on the INSIDE of the front page, you could still order it, but it’s… weird.  It offends my reader-ish sensibilities.)

Second, you’ll notice a new Page has popped up over here on the right for “Reiki Classes”.  Many people are asking about this, and I’d like to share some of my intentions for the near future:

  1. I’ll be teaching in-person Reiki classes at the Silver Pyramid starting in July.
  2. Very soon, I’ll be putting out more v-blogs and videos, and a number of these videos will be Reiki instructional bits.  (I promise not to cuss too much.)
  3. Also very soon, I’m going to be putting out some podcasts dealing with Reiki, Hakim Bey, and some other awesome healing things.
  4. If the response is good at the Silver Pyramid, I’ll start teaching other classes there as well, including periodic workshops on Forgiveness, Law of Attraction, Recipe for a Perfect Marriage (or, “Now That I’ve Met the Person of My Dreams, How Do I Put Up With Him/Her?”) and many others.

I also have another couple of interesting super-secret projects in the work that I can’t really talk about, but if there are any anime/manga/chibi-style artists out there interested in taking on a unique project, let me know.  :-)

There are other things going on, certainly, but I’m not sure what to say about them yet.  I’ll probably update later on tonight or tomorrow.

Reiki Your Leaves, 2nd Ed, available now from Lulu

Yes, I’ve been plugging this a lot, and I’ll continue to plug it.  It’s a great book, chock-full of awesome information, and I even did the illustrations.

This new edition has a few tweaks and mods, a couple of more illustrations, some sections were removed, others added, and the whole thing just flows a lot nicer now.  It’s a few more pages, too, but that’s not a bad thing.

So, you can get the new edition of “Reiki Your Leaves” here on Lulu.Com.  Yes, it’s a self-publishing site, which is exactly what I need for this project.  When I start publishing novels and such, it’ll be a totally different story.

And, if you’re not savvy just yet, check over on the right:  I have a new Reiki class starting on July 7th at 7:00 at the Silver Pyramid here in Richardson. The cost is $15 per person, and you can attend at any level and at any time.  The way I do it, you can play “drop in” every once in a while or stay through all three degrees.  (Yes, I said “all three”.)  We’ll be sharing Reiki and practicing on each other, and if you want a proper certification, I’ll have the paperwork and procedure there for you.  There’s no certificate for the first degree, but from second degree on, it’s there if you want it.

If you’re coming to the class, you can totally buy the book now or when you get there.  (Email me if you’re coming so that I know how many to order.)  You can download it, too, but before you get the “cheap option” stars in your eyes with the intention of printing it off, be aware that it’s 195 pages.  Check out the new page (listed on the right) for Reiki Classes.

Back to teaching, maybe?

I keep trying to write something long and profound, but everything comes out all ranty and weird, and it doesn’t sound right to even me, so I put it in Drafts and wait until later when it’ll look better.

In the meantime, I meant to remind you all that I wrote a book.  This is the other one, the Reiki book, “Reiki Your Leaves“, and this is still the original version.  As I get a little breather in the summer time, I’ll get it updated again.

It’s only $17.95, plus shipping, (or $6.95 for a digital download) and it’s a very good starting point if you want to sign up for one of my impending classes (again, a summer project) or if you want to learn on your own.  I broke a lot of rules on purpose in writing that, including the whole section on how to attune yourself.  Usui-Sensei didn’t have someone attune him to Reiki, right, so it doesn’t stand to reason that you have to have someone else attune you… though sometimes it’s just a little easier.  ;-)

It’s kinda like the conversation I was having with the inimitable MamaTat:  Siddartha did not go out and buy his mala beads from some local “WannaBeABuddha” shop.  When it comes to spiritual awareness, having a teacher and other props is handy sometimes, but it’s not always necessary.
