It’s all coming together

I think I have a permanent boot print on my butt where the universe has been strategically placing what can only be termed politely as “motivation”.

I sat down today to start drafting out a fiction story that’s been floating around, and a Reiki manual fell out.

Who wants to take a class?  Even students who have taken it before are welcome.  I hope to have a full version of the REAL Reiki manual (that I’ll actually be proud of) available on Lulu in the next week or so.

I’m going to be converting a lot of stuff from the old manual into the new one, but mostly it’s all being written from scratch.  It’s about damn time.

All about priorities

When we get into the healing arts, one of the first things we have to establish is who we’re trying to help, who we’re trying to save. This helps us determine our motivation, which is where we must each begin.

Tonight, I got the chance to work on my daughter. Normally, we should be cautious about working on people too close to us. It’s very easy to lose your perspective and act from a place of preconceived notions. As a professional, I try very hard to maintain my objectivity, and working with my kids is a great way to put that to the test.

Yes, we can sometimes perceive their issues through our own expectations, but if you can beat that problem, who better to help them than the person they instinctively trust the most?

It requires such a higher level of honesty, but it can also provide an exercise in nonjudgment and clarity.

Tomorrow, I’m going to do the same thing with one of my sons with EFT and Reiki. It’s an effective method, and it will bring us closer together, I hope. I know it’s already worked wonders for me and my girl.

To answer the question

Yes, I ended that last topical post in the middle of a sentence.  On purpose.

In other news, I’ve just finished a whirlwind weekend (say that ten times fast!) of healing and attunements.  I’m being reminded again that it’s time to brush off the ol’ Reiki manuals and… well, throw them out.

If you happened to buy or download the Reiki manual that I cobbled together from the Path of Reiki group, I apologize profusely.  In my defense, the “final product” there was much more readable and consistent than what I started with, but that’s not really saying much.  I know I need to rewrite it, and I’m finding the words even as we speak.  This is a very, very good thing.

Poem: Birdcall

chittering chattering at the window
as though the strange sounds will call them
a poor interpretation of a poor translation
of a miscommunication at the outset

it may have first been grackles
or perhaps those weird little finches
or, thinking on it, it could have been
the turtledoves that only spoke crow

day after day, perched on the windowsill
the passionate plea to come a little closer
is the forefront sound among many others
dogs, real birds, cars, wind, arguing, sneaking

i will only let you out through the front door
with the expressed understanding that you will stay
close to the house, that birds are only for sport,
and the irony of your lack of carcass
after all of your chittering
does not escape my attention
and does not change
my willingness to let you out
and does not take away
the memory of your
three-bird-daily glory days

you belong to the species
that produces the greatest hunters on earth,
that causes the most ecological disaster,
and none of that matters
as you pay your toll for outside time
with patient purring
and a sincere desire
to receive pettings
at your convenience

Emotions aren’t the boss of you

I know I was going to continue talking about Mark Morford’s fictitious baby and how the studies on the inherent ineffectiveness of antidepressants make me feel incredibly vindicated, but I really need to talk about this first:

One of the great debates about the path to mental health and good decision making is to try to strike some kind of a balance between the mental and emotional sides of the self.  On one hand, the intellectual mind alleges to provide purely logical, objective thought processes, whereas the heart provides motivation and intuitive guidance.  Which way to go?  Which way, which way?

Normally, it’s not that big of a deal, but sometimes the heart and head do not agree, and then it’s a matter who “which one is right”.
