A quick note, then off to work

And with two jobs, that means working a lot.

The kids’ school is in full swing, so there’s a LOT of work to do.

To Kim/Andrew/Dennis: Holy shit, you guys are the awesomest, thanks for the chocolates NOMNOMNOMNOMNOMNOM!

Joe and I were just talking about starting a little homeschool share site so that we could share Lili and Miles’ awesome creative writing assignments each week. Last week was “Lost Continents”, and this week was a time machine adventure. Here’s Miles entry:

Here is a short story of the biggest adventure of my life. I was hanging around, doing my school work while my Mom was out in Costa Rica, and I heard a knock on the door. I went over and opened the door. It was the UPS man.

“I have a package for you here.” He said, and handed me a small package. I closed the door and went back inside. I opened up the package, and inside was a note. It said: “Hi Miles! I’m your future self. I made this time machine, (by made, I mean bought at the store) and I decided that you could have some fun with it.”

“It had five uses, but I tested it once, and then had to use it to bring you here, and used another one to bring myself back. All you need to do is enter the date that you want, and then press the big red button.”

“By the way, the return trip does not drain charge, and you do not need to worry about meeting yourself. Because you actually return to that time, and you basically take over the body of your past, or future, time. P.S, press the big blue button to return to your time.”

That was where the note ended. I looked over the time machine. It looked like a rechargeable battery charger. I decided that the first thing I would do, is go back a week and tell dad that I wanted the Force Unleashed video game, instead of the Complete Lego Star Wars.

I entered the date, and pressed the button. I was right on time, because I came in right as dad was asking me. “So which do you want?” he asked. “Ummm…” I said, pretending to consider.

“I want the Force Unleashed, please.” I said finally. “Okay.” He said. And that is where is went back to the present. I decided that I would go to the future and check my future school assignments. I put in two weeks, and went there.

I asked Mom if I could do my school, and then checked my assignments. I checked over them, and then, prepared for what I would have to do, I went back to my time. I only had one use left, but I did not know where to go.

So I went four seconds earlier, and then I went back. I looked over to the video game shelf, and there was Force Unleashed. Besides that, I could not find anything different. That was what happens when you give a Miles a time machine. He does not know what to do with it.

The End.
