I don’t dance, but this is cute.

I didn’t make it through NaNo, but what the hell, I tried. I actually kinda like the story, so if I ever get around to having time to write fiction, I may have to dust it off.

In the meantime, I got a freelance gig at Suite101.com. It pays on click-throughs instead of per article, but it’s a resume point, and that’s important. In the meantime, I’m working on getting other freelance gigs as well. I can crank out research articles til the cows come home, and even sometimes some funny stuff. We’ll just have to see.

And why am I doing it so late in the “season”? It has nothing to do with the holidays. I did some figuring, and I need to make another $800 (give or take) per month to pay for school for both me and the kids. Technically, I might be able to eek by on $650, but knowing how these things go, it’s better to assume the worst. Plus, eventually I’d like to get each of the kids their own laptops, and if I assume an extra $150-200 a month, I might be able to get them each one for their birthdays next year.

Because, frankly, I’m a little over the shared time on the computer thing. You’d think that with eight computers in the house they’d each find some kind of time when 1) no one else is on THAT computer, 2) the chores are all done, and 3) it’s not pressing for them to do something else. I mean, it’s not that bad, and honestly they each need their own space to keep their own work… GoogleDocs is helping a lot, but when you forget to upload your story into a Doc and then switch computers, it’s a nightmare of whining, and you know how I feel about that…
